    1. I missed out on seeing Gil in London due to him having to cancel his concert on the 20th April and now I’ve not been able to get a ticket to see him at Somerset House as it has been sold out. I’m gutted. If anyone has tickets for the 14th July and is unable to go I would be happy to buy them as I realy want to see Gil. Kevin

    8. Gill was in truly stunning form at Somerset House in London last night. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect; I haven’t seen him for many years and some of the footage from early 2009 left me feeling the best has been and long gone.
But I’m new here; the CD, the interviews and glimpses of footage from early 2010 gave me hope.
However nothing could prepare me for the strong, lucid, witty and overwhelmingly joyous man who took to the stage, fully 10 minutes before his scheduled start time. Now we all know Gil has a concept of time which only he understands, but it usually only works in one direction. His early arrival was perhaps a clue we were about to witness something special.
Gone was the mumbling, sunken man who frequented the Jazz Cafe in north London a decade ago. Five minutes in, I tuned to see a crowd , captivated and seemingly hypnotised by what many of them, myself included, had come to believe they would never see again; the sight of Gil Scott Heron in full voice and in total command.
A great band, a strong set and a beautiful summer’s evening, but most of all a man seemingly reborn, with a voice which has been resurrected from a diminished state, so clearly evident in those recording of only a couple of years ago. I listed to the CD today and there is just no comparison. The 2010 tour has given the man and his voice the workout it has been crying out for. The difference is night and day.
The finale – Better Days Ahead – seemed well chosen. Make no mistake, the man is back.
      Set list from memory:
      The Blues
      Winter in America
      Is that Jazz?
      Pieces of a man
      I’ll take care of you
      Instrumental
      We almost lost Detroit
      Three Miles Down
      The Bottle
      Better days ahead
