    It’s Winter in America got me inspired to check out your website, and it made me feel really good that you are still producing and publishing work. You were an inspiration to me in college in the 90’s and now that I am returning to my art I am returning to my roots.   6. Looking for a CD version of “Real Eyes”. Have been a fan since the ’60s. Saw him in Dallas in the ’80s. Remember when he was married to Brenda Sykes (the actress). I went to Dorsey High. I have most of the other CDs. I had to replace my vinyls.

    I program Gil on every show because his work has its pulse on what is really going on in world, especially w/ oppressed people of all colors, races, classes and creeds.   16. Please PLease PLease lads tell me, what’re the chances of Gil adding a night or two in Dublin, Ireland after playing London at the end of April?

    I know you had hassle with customs a few years back coming into Ireland, but you’d make my year if you could play anywhere in Ireland this year.

  25. XL, you always been kinda cool anyways, but taking on Gil, well I just wanna hug ya’ll and squeeze you tight. The album is monster, scary monster even, but 100% Gil and I love it, bought 5 copies, thats christmas sorted :D

    Hopefully all is well for the Womad gig in July have my bags packed and ticket in hand, I think this is my 15th Gil gig, would have been about 30, but hey its gil, he has been known to miss the odd show :P

    Great to have him back, thanks XL for having faith, and thanks for a website at long last.

    I was in Sète for the world wide festival just to see you. I was hoping for that date till that last concert in 2001 in New Morning.
    I can not really explain what you bring to me, but I really feel sad not seeing you.
    Please tell me if you’ll be to the next concert in Europe.

  40. I just found this site today after hearing about the death of the greatest prophetic poet of our time. I listened to him in the 1970’s and always quoted his lyrics to others.

    I wish there was something any of us could have done to help him. He should have had a fulfilling life.
    I had no idea what he was going through.

    This is a great loss for all of us.

  41. I had him on my site sultryjazzdivas because along with Miles he was and shall remain timeless. We all would have given him shelter, food,money, medicine whatever..because this was one REAL dude.

    It’s a loss for us but one glorious soul up in Heaven..or where ever that place is which I think it’s an E-V-0-L-U-T-I-O-N And it will not be televised. I wonder if he ever knew how many people truly cared about his soul and physical well being here on earth..

  42. Gil Scott was a prophet who opened our eyes and our ears to TRUTH. I first met him in Philadelphia and caught his last show in D.C. at the Blues Alley nightclub. I got to meet and greet him after the show and he was his always gracious self.
    We have lost a Prince and a true Warrior for TRUTH .

    Rest easy and keep the music going. We love you and are all the better for having been in your Energy.
