DEAREST GIL , MY BROTHER !!!!,
I AM SO GLAD THAT “GOD” HAS BLESSED YOU IN THE WAYS NEEDED TO OVERCOME THE NEGATIVITY THAT HAS TROUBLED YOUR “SOUL” AND “YOUR “BEAUTIFUL SPIRIT” OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS. “I LOVE YOU”. YOU ARE ONE OF THE PEOPLE WHO I WAS, AND AM “STILL” SO STRONGLY INFLUENCED BY IN “MY OWN” POETIC PLIGHT , AND JOURNEY ON THE PATH OF ENLIGHTENMENT. IT IS THROUGH “YOUR POETRY” AND “ART” THAT I BECAME AWARE OF MANY THINGS THAT I NEEDED TO BECOME AWARE OF. YOUR “TOTAL BEING” IS SO IMPORTANT TO ALL OF US…..AND YOUR POETRY THAT FLOWS LIKE TIME ITS SELF…. “MUST” CONTINUE. “I” MYSELF MY BROTHER, HAVE ALSO TRAVELED THAT ROAD OF ADDICTION ,….I “FIRST HAND” KNOW WHAT IT’S LIKE TO SCRATCH AND CLAW” ONES WAY BACK TO “THE TRUE SELF”…. THAT “PERSON” AND THAT “PLACE” THAT GOD INTENDED TO HAVE SHARE WITH THE UNIVERSE. I WILL ALWAYS SAY PRAYERS FOR YOU , AND “PLEASE” KNOW THAT I AM NOT ALONE IN THE LOVE THAT I HAVE …..“GOD’ LOVES YOU TOO….THAT’S WHY YOU’RE STILL HERE TO CARRY ON. >> YOUR WORDS WILL LIVE FOREVER << BROTHER GIL , I LOVE YOUR “NEW” WORK , ONCE AGAIN YOU ARE INSPIRING ME IN MY LIFE. PEACE & LOVE , STAY TRUE TO U , BLUE SKY WWW.MYSPACE.COM/SKYBLUESKY9 WWW.CDBABY.COM/BLUESKYComment left by BLUE SKY · Saturday February 6, 2010 · #
Brother Gil, I am so pleased you made it back to the studio. Over the years I have thought of you and felt deep concern for what you’ve be going through. I first saw you in the late 70s when you performed at the Fieldston School in Riverdale, Bronx, New York, which I believe to be your Alma mater. I was a high school kid from Harlem going to school there and we “hooked” school to see you. You greatly changed of my I view of the world. For you knowledge and gifts I am greatly in your debt.My wish and prayer for you is that you understand how much you mean to so many who deeply appreciate your talents and gifts. BE WELL and KNOW YOU ARE WORTHY. Enjoy the “comeback” and feel the love so many of us have for you.

Dear Sir
It is sad that the truth of life often hurts those who are told it and even sadder that it hurts even more those who can see it and feel it for themselves. But some pride and I hope also some joy can be taken for doing as you do. Please remember that you have acheived great things. One of the nails in the coffin of aparthied was hammered home by you.
Peace to you Sir. Peace to you.

We lost a good brother. And his poetry came from the right and correct place. I am amazed at all the troubles he had. But he indeed left a hell of a legacy. God bless Gil Scott-Herron.

I’ve been following Gil Scott Heron since “Pieces of a Man.” What a perfect title. He did just that. He opened up his mind, heart, and soul and shared with us. He told us what we knew but were unable to verbalize and he also took us to places we’d never imagined being or going. I’m so happy he occupied a place in my life through his music. Not many people can be called a revolutionary. He surely was/is. History will recall this man who made us listen because we knew he’d always have something to say. Drop some knowledge on us, give us our fix that we needed.
I was about to check my email when I saw the news. I felt empty and bruised inside but only for a moment then my soul stirred up inside me and I was moved to pour out these words. I know he would want us to continue to be truth speakers and truth seekers. Let’s vow to be more like him so we can recover from the void that losing him has brought us. We have lost his physical presence but not the pieces of the man he so freely gave.
