Gil. I gave my first (and only free-willed) talk in school on Angel Dust (I was 12, and I had no idea of it, just started smoking cigarettes :). But this song impressed me so much, that I wanted to research what you were singing about and share it with my calssmates (who looked at me and had no idea what I was talking about – but that was nothing, you should have seen the teacher :))). Your music accompanied me all my life. And now you are back. I wish you well. And hopefully destiny brings you back to Austria one day. Take care. M

I sure did miss you and am so glad you are back. You did a concert on the Univ.of Pittsburgh campus back in 1975. Your hotel arrangement got botched up somehow so I hosted you and the band. It was pouring down rain and you wanted to take a walk at 12:30 A.M. and so we all walked around the block and played in the playground in the pouring rain. I count that as one of the most important learning points of my college education! Two years later you played in Philly and I was there. I was suprised when you remembered me! Thank you for that. I am so glad you are back on the scene and look forward to seeing you in Philly again real soon. Peace.

I first heard Gil Scott Heron on a Baltimore
radio station late one night in 1972. I was just back Viet Nam bitter and angry at everything. His voice expressed that frustration and compassion that is still part
of me today. Many times over the years I have thought about how much America needs Gil now. I’m glad he has survived some rough times. I wish him well and hope he understands how much he has meant to us.
